This is the theme for the Kittah Zayin (7th grade) year. Recognizing that students will soon become Bar or Bat Mitzvah, the curriculum explores mature topics including Torah study, prayer, and the Holocaust, with a focus on students engaging in the Jewish community as “responsibility-bearing” members.

Bar-Bat Mitzvah is not just a ceremony; it is not just a celebration; it is not something that the rabbi or cantor does to you. It is a state of being; a child becomes Bar or Bat Mitzvah at the age of 13 (or, for the traditionally observant,12 for girls).

While not all students formally celebrate becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah, all Jews become Bar or Bat Mitzvah and the curriculum and program is designed with that in mind.

Class Meets: Sundays mornings 9:30 am – noon and Wednesday afternoons 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
